How can I make a web crawler gather data? -


This is a big question to me but I am beginning to start, I have limited experience in HTML, PHP etc. and some one Want to knock it out, but do not even know where to start from

Although I can not use every language, with a little guidance I make a cut and paste and some I can also learn I am a school teacher so I have to fill a long summer vacation.

I was thinking that I could get something that would search for the dates of the dates and events and / or travel things such as the train times etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
